The Minor Mosque
One of the most beautiful buildings of modern Tashkent, the Minor Mosque, is located on the renovated coast of Ankhor, not far from the Minor cemetery.
The history of this mosque begins in 2013, in the summer of which, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, “On measures for the construction of a mosque on the territory of the mahalla "Minor” of the city of Tashkent" and its construction began. The mosque was inaugurated by Islam Karimov on October 1, 2014 on the eve of the celebration of Kurban Hayit.
The mosque can be seen from afar, decorated with white marble instead of burnt brick, the sky–colored dome, 2 minarets, a huge scale of construction - all this gives the mosque a special attraction and magical beauty. On a clear day, it is like a mirage in the desert, as if it glows from within, fragile and at the same time majestic. On a winter day, under a layer of snow, it becomes like a fairy-tale castle.
There is a gentrified area around the mosque, a fountain, where it is especially pleasant to walk in the evenings.
In order to get inside the mosque, you need to be in the appropriate appearance: women's legs, head and shoulders should be covered, for this, handkerchiefs are distributed at the entrance of the mosque. Only men are allowed in the mosque itself, and an adjacent room is available for women, which is specially fenced.
Getting inside the mosque, into a huge round hall, it is immediately clear that modern finishing materials were used in its design. The patterns on the walls are made by traditional clay plaster carvings in the style of “naksh”, the hall is decorated with frescoes, in the center of it is a large dome painted with patterns. The main decoration of the hall is one of the most beautiful mihrabs in the country (prayer niche), painted with quotations from the Koran and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad. It is noteworthy that the mihrab of the Minor mosque is an exact copy of the Samarkand mihrab.
The prayer hall is divided into 2 floors, has two terraces and a courtyard of beautiful decoration.
The fact that the building is new is also indicated by the fact that there are special rooms for ablution on the territory of the mosque, equipped with all necessary and modern equipment. In summer, the room is cooled by air conditioners, and in winter the floors are warmed by a special heating system.
The elegant mosque with its openwork interior can accommodate up to 2,400 believers and is the most important spiritual center of Uzbekistan. Financing of its construction was at the expense of the state budget, as well as the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan.
As people say about the Minor Mosque, the White or Snow Mosque has not yet celebrated its 10th anniversary and does not yet tell visitors and guests legends, but already amazes them with its splendor
