The house musem Fayzulla Khodzhayev
Fayzulla Ubaydullayevich Khodjaev, one of the prominent politicians of the early XX century, who was born in 1896 in Bukhara. The activist has lived a very bright, eventful, but short life. Fayzulla Khodjaev was an ardent supporter of the educational movement of the Jadids, a supporter of democratic reforms and an opponent of the monarchical regime in the Emirate of Bukhara.
On September 20, 1920, Khodjaev was one of the participants in the Chardzhui uprising organized by the movement of the Young Bukharians, during which the power of the Emir of Bukhara was finally overthrown.
Then, before Bukhara joined the Uzbek SSR, Fayzulla Khodjaev headed the government of the Bukhara People's Soviet Republic. And after joining the Uzbek SSR, he became chairman of the Revkom of the Republic, and later chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Uzbek SSR.
However, on June 17, 1937, Fayzulla Khodjaev was released from all his posts and imprisoned. After terrible tortures, on March 13, 1938, he was executed by firing squad. It was only in 1965 that he was recognized as a victim of Stalin's repressions and restored to the party posthumously.
The politician Fayzulla Khodjaev was the son of the merchant Ubaydulla Khodjaev, however, he did not inherit his father's trading vein. Ubaydulla Khodjaev purchased a 3ha house for his entire large family in the 80s of the XIX century in the center of Bukhara. The architecture of the house is designed in the best traditions of Bukhara of the XIX century.
The house is one-story, its terrace is decorated with aivans, which are mounted on wooden carved columns. The large plot is divided into male and female halves, in addition, the house has utility rooms, one large guest room (mekhmonkhona), several small living rooms and balconies. The interior and exterior of the house are decorated with wood carvings. In the rooms of the house, each visitor can discover unique exhibits that are more than a century and a half old. Among them are numerous antiques, exclusive furniture, expensive porcelain tableware, Uzbek national musical instruments, national clothes, household items, painted vases.
The architectural monument of the XIX century, the house of the famous politician Fayzulla Khodzhayev, is today one of the most striking sights of Bukhara.
