The Gallery of Arts and Facts

The Gallery of Arts and Facts is a new platform for the development of contemporary art in Uzbekistan, including a gallery, a photo school, an art salon and services for the development of original design.

The gallery, with an area of 800m2, consists of 3 exhibition halls and is located in the former bomb shelter of the building of the Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics. One of the halls of the gallery serves for holding press conferences, the second is a photo studio, and the third contains a photo archive of the historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.

The practice of organizing halls of contemporary art in abandoned warehouses and factories appeared in the 1970s in cities of Europe and the USA. As it turned out, renting and buying these buildings was not expensive, and a large area with small expenses for the restoration of the premises allowed organizing a large-scale exhibition and recreating any idea of the artist. Soon this practice gained popularity and large-scale contemporary art centers and exhibitions began to be increasingly located in abandoned industrial buildings.

The Gallery of Arts and Facts was no exception. Today, the gallery is a discussion space for solving topical issues of contemporary art. This is a mobile, open space, which is also designed to increase the level of education of the population of Tashkent in the field of arts.

In addition, the gallery's tasks include creating a digital photo bank, providing an exhibition hall for expositions of contemporary artists and photographers. The gallery is a venue for festivals, concerts, theatrical productions, master classes in photography, design, music and painting, as well as organizing and holding lectures by Uzbek and foreign figures of classical and modern art.
