Tashkent polytechnic museum
In the very center of the Uzbek capital, not far from Amir Timur Square, there is the Tashkent Polytechnic Museum, opened by historical standards quite recently. The initiator of the opening of the museum was the joint-stock company “UzAvtosanoat”, as a result of which the museum was opened in November 2005.
A team of young architects led by the talented Sardor Raufov participated in the construction of the museum. From the outside, the front of the museum is made in white, which, due to the peculiarities of the hot climate, is a characteristic feature of many buildings of modern Uzbekistan. The glass surfaces are cast in blue with a green tint.
Inside the museum consists of two floors, a large bright space and a fairly impressive area of the museum allowed to accommodate even the largest exhibits. The style of the museum successfully combines classical and modern features. The space of the first floor of the museum presents an exposition divided by chronological and thematic zones, reflecting the history of the automotive industry as a whole, as well as in Uzbekistan. The second floor is an “Interactive workshop” that allows you to experience the essence of the processes taking place in the surrounding world.
The thematic areas of the first floor include a more historical part – “Retro” and a modern one – “Modern". The history of the car is described from the appearance of the first wheel, and then the museum staff and organizers managed to get such rare exhibits as the “Chayka”, “Pobeda”, “Volkswagen Beetle”, “Moskvich – 400”, and restore them.
Agriculture plays an important role in the economy of Uzbekistan, therefore, the museum has a section reflecting the development of agricultural machinery from the tools of labor to modern tractors, which are produced in Uzbekistan jointly with Germany.
The history of modern mechanical engineering in Uzbekistan began with the Tico car, which is reflected in the Modern section. Absolutely all models produced by the Uzbek automobile industry until today are presented here. Of particular value is the Spark car with the autograph of the first President of our country and the millionth copy of the popular Lacetti car.
There are also models of three automobile plants of Uzbekistan reduced by thousands of times, which, despite their small scale, display their activities in detail.
Students of the Turin Polytechnic Institute made an important contribution to the museum's exposition. Their unique designs fascinate visitors. Without taking their eyes off the visitor, they follow the 3D Mapping Show, where an ordinary white car turns into a work of art. Under the calm music, kinetic balls hanging from the ceiling form various shapes. A hologram reflects the history of the development of the transport industry.
Going up to the second floor, children and adults with the same passion move from one exhibit to another. There is not the largest, but perhaps the most interesting Playground. The Ames room, an inverted room, a mirror maze, which creates an interesting optical illusion, are also presented – all this will not let children or adults get bored.
Residents and guests of the capital come to the museum with whole families and every visitor does not remain indifferent to the presented exposition.
