Museum of the History of Communications
On October 24, 2009, at the initiative of the National Foundation of the Communications, a Museum of the History of Communications was opened in Tashkent. It is located in a three-storey building in the Shaikhantakhur district of the capital, not far from the building of the Tashkent Circus. The rich exposition of the museum, numbering more than 7,100 exhibits, reflects all stages of the development of communications in chronological order, from the signal signs used in the Middle Ages to the present day.
The museum includes a conference hall for presentations and conferences, a cinema center where you can get acquainted with the expositions of museums of the world and Uzbekistan in an online format. The exhibition halls are presented in sections reflecting the development of postal communications, telegraph, telephone, radio, television, mobile communications and the development of the communications industry over the years of independence in Uzbekistan.
In addition, the museum is decorated with interesting stands, among which you can find a unique mail car, which has been a mail distributor for several centuries. A separate and largest stand is dedicated to the development of the Uzbek post – “O'zbekiston pochtasi". Here you can see all the stamps that were put into circulation in Uzbekistan during the years of independence, uniforms, stamps and other working attributes of postmen.
The epoch of the great Temurids was not left without attention, when signal signs, bonfires and carrier pigeons were used for communication and protection of fortresses.
Another unique exhibit is the first cell phone in Uzbekistan, on which the first president of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, spoke on August 26, 1992. It was with the advent of this phone that the development and popularization of cell phones began in our republic.
Visitors can see absolutely all the phones used in Uzbekistan from the beginning of the XX century to the present day. All of them, despite their age in good working condition, are connected to a telephone line and anyone who wants to visit the museum can call from any of them.
The tree of development of communication technologies will tell about the formation of Uzbek television. Just as in the case of telephones, almost all brands of televisions that were used on the territory of Uzbekistan are represented here.
In addition, the museum also holds solo exhibitions related to the history of communications and communications.
The friendly staff of the museum will always welcome visitors, conduct fascinating excursions without neglecting any of the exhibits presented.
