Anhor
Several centuries ago, numerous canals were dug here to provide Tashkent with water. One of these channels is the Anchor, 23 km long, which penetrates the center of Tashkent and symbolically divides the city into old and new parts. The Chirchik River gives rise to the Bozsu canal, and the 2 branches of the Bozsu – Kalkauz and Ankhor, passing through the whole city, come together again.
Ankhor on hot days, which make up most of the year in Tashkent, gives the townspeople walking on its coast a saving coolness. Walking along the shore of Ankhor, you can get around several sights of the capital at once, including the Minor Mosque, the Courage Monument, the Turkiston Concert Hall, Independence Square, Memory Square, Pakhtakor Stadium.
Freshness in summer is given not only by the waters of the canal, but also by the shady trees that stretch along its banks. Also, on the shore you can see cafes that are located at the very edge of the water and offer tired citizens and guests of the capital a rest and taste incredibly delicious national cuisine.
